Dhaka, Thimphu See Big Potential in Hydropower Trade

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain on Tuesday said there remains 'significant potential' for further collaboration with Bhutan, especially in hydropower trade, on which both countries can work together for mutual benefit though cooperation has expanded across various sectors over the years.


He made the remark when newly appointed Ambassador of Bhutan to Bangladesh Dasho Karma Hamu Dorjee paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Foreign Affairs Adviser welcomed the ambassador to Bangladesh and congratulated on her appointment.

Various trade-related issues were also discussed and the importance of convening the next round of Commerce Secretary level meeting was emphasized, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Reaffirming the strong bilateral ties between the two countries, Ambassador Dorjee conveyed appreciation for the continued cooperation extended by the Government of Bangladesh to Bhutan.

Ambassador Dorjee briefed the Adviser for Foreign Affairs about ‘Gelephu Mindfulness City’ project of Bhutan.

The Adviser assured the Ambassador of all possible cooperation during her tenure in Bangladesh, reports UNB. 

He highlighted the excellent friendly relations that exist between Bangladesh and Bhutan.
