A high-level delegation of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, left Dhaka for China late Saturday night at the invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The nine-member delegation departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 10:15pm aboard an Air China flight, according to BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan.

The team includes senior party figures such as BNP Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, ayeshwar Chandra Roy, Selima Rahman, and AZM Zahid Hossain.

Also accompanying the delegation are BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council members Zahir Uddin Swapon, Ismail Jabiullah, and Prof Sukomal Barua, along with BNP media cell convener Maudud Ahmed Pavel.

Speaking to reporters before departure, Mirza Fakhrul said the five-day visit is part of BNP’s ongoing diplomatic engagement and aimed at deepening the party’s relationship with the Chinese government and the CPC.

“We will hold meetings with top CPC leaders. We believe this visit will help strengthen the historic and friendly ties between our two countries,” Fakhrul said.

Party insiders indicated that the visit comes at a time when BNP is looking to enhance its international outreach and forge stronger relations with global political parties and governments, especially ahead of future political developments in Bangladesh.

The delegation is scheduled to return home on June 27.
