Canadian envoy meets Prof Ali Riaz

Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Ajit Singh today met with National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz to discuss the progress of the work of the Commission. 

He was accompanied by Marcus Davies, Political Counsellor, and Stephen Weaver, Counsellor and Head of Cooperation, said a press release here.

Professor Riaz briefed the delegation on the dialogues with the political parties regarding building consensus and drafting the National Charter. 

He welcomed Canada's interest and emphasized the importance of international partnerships in strengthening democratic institutions.

During the meeting, the Canadian delegation expressed strong support for the Commission’s objectives.

They commended the efforts being made to promote inclusive dialogue and national consensus and assured continued cooperation and assistance from the Government of Canada, reports BSS.
