The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu has urged all Bangladeshi nationals in Nepal to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel as violent unrest grips the country.

The advisory asked Bangladeshi residents and inbound passengers to stay at their hotels or current locations and discouraged travel to Nepal until security improves. Emergency contact numbers were also provided for immediate assistance: Sadek (+977 9803872759) and Sarda (+977 9851128381).

The warning follows widespread “Gen Z protests” triggered by the Nepalese government’s decision to block 26 social media platforms for failing to comply with new regulations. Tens of thousands of young demonstrators, mostly students, took to the streets in Kathmandu and other cities, expressing anger over corruption, lack of opportunities, governance failures, and restrictions on digital freedom.

At least 19 people were killed and hundreds injured in the worst single-day violence Nepal has witnessed in decades. Authorities have imposed a curfew in Kathmandu and several other cities to restore order.
