National security adviser to visit India Nov 19
Bangladesh’s interim government National Security Adviser, Khalilur Rahman, will visit New Delhi on 19 November to attend a high-level gathering of Indo-Pacific security chiefs.
He is scheduled to join the seventh meeting of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC), to be held in the Indian capital on 20 November.
Rahman’s two-day trip comes at the invitation of India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, who extended the request in late October.
The Colombo Security Conclave is a key security forum for Indian Ocean nations, bringing together member states to coordinate on regional challenges. Its current members are India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Mauritius, and Bangladesh, with Seychelles participating as an observer.
Bangladesh became a full member of the bloc in 2024. In August that year, member countries met in Colombo to adopt a charter and sign an MoU establishing a permanent CSC Secretariat in the Sri Lankan capital.
The forum works across five priority areas: maritime safety and security; counterterrorism and preventing violent extremism; combating human trafficking and transnational crime; cybersecurity and protection of critical infrastructure; and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
Although the CSC secretariat is based in Colombo, meetings — including those of National Security Advisers — rotate among member states.
