The Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mohd Shuhada Bin Osman, has said that a growing number of Bangladeshi patients now seek treatment abroad, and Malaysia’s advanced healthcare facilities could position the country as a promising destination for them.

He made the remarks during a meeting with business leaders of the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry this afternoon at the World Trade Center in Agrabad. The session was chaired by Chamber Administrator and Additional Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Nurullah Noori.

The High Commissioner underscored the importance of the five agreements signed during Dr Muhammad Yunus’s visit to Malaysia last August, noting that these deals are expected to further strengthen bilateral ties.

He also pointed to opportunities for Bangladesh to earn foreign exchange through the production and processing of halal-certified products, alongside investment prospects in Chattogram’s telecommunications, security, healthcare, manufacturing, and energy sectors.

Chamber Administrator Nurullah Noori highlighted the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and Malaysia as two Muslim-majority nations.

Other speakers stressed the need for regular trade delegations to deepen cooperation between the business communities of both countries. Former Chamber President and Honorary Consul of Thailand Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury, former Senior Vice President M. A. Salam, Honorary Consul of Malaysia Mohammad Akhter Parvez, and former Director Zahirul Islam Chowdhury Alamgir also shared their views.
