Denmark has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Interim Government in its transition towards a peaceful, democratic and equitable Bangladesh.

The assurance was made when Danish State Secretary for Trade and Investment Lina Gandløse Hansen met Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain at the foreign ministry here on Monday, said a press release here.

During the meeting, the Adviser highlighted the landmark US$550 million investment by Danish company APM Terminals in the Laldia Container Terminal (LCT) Project, terming it the largest single European investment in Bangladesh to date.

He thanked the Danish side for the deal and sought continued cooperation to help Bangladesh address post-LDC-graduation challenges.

He also stressed enhanced collaboration in capacity building, bilateral trade, investment opportunities, energy efficiency and sustainable economic development.

State Secretary Hansen, accompanied by Danish Ambassador Christian Brix Møller, reiterated that the LCT Project marks the beginning of a new phase of cooperation between the two countries.

She also noted potential Danish investment in the proposed 500 MW offshore wind power project near Cox's Bazar and highlighted reinvestment initiatives of Denmark's development finance institution, IFU.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the steady advancement of Bangladesh-Denmark relations and reiterated their commitment to further strengthening economic and development partnerships for mutual benefit, reports BSS.
