Patuakhali: At least 5 houses were completely destroyed in the Boishakhi storm in Kalapara of Patuakhali. In addition, at least 50 houses were partially damaged. Hundreds of trees were uprooted in the storm. The incident took place in Nawabganj and Salimpur villages of Nilganj union of the upazila around 1:30 pm on Tuesday.

It is known that the houses of Mannan Boyati, Maryam and Madhav of Nawabganj village and the houses of Nirmal Biswas and Bimal Biswas of Salimpur village were completely destroyed in the heavy rain and sudden gusty wind in the afternoon. They have now taken shelter in the houses of their neighbors. In addition, at least 50 houses in Latachapoli, Mahipur, Dhulasar and Mithaganj unions were partially destroyed. These extremely poor families are hoping for government assistance after being severely affected.

Kalapara Upazila Executive Officer Kausar Hamid said that a list of the affected people is being prepared by contacting the chairman of each affected union and conducting on-site inspections.
