Strom lashed Kalapara, 10 residential houses destroyed

Dwelling houses destroyed in Kalapara storm.

Patuakhali: at least 4 houses were completely destroyed and 6 houses were partially damaged by the hit of storm in Kalapara upazila under Patuakhali. Many trees have been uprooted. The incident took place at Laskarpur village of Nilganj union of the upazila at around 9 pm on Monday. Currently, the affected family members are living under the open sky.

According to local sources, the residence of Sattar Mollah, the residence of Neshar Fakir, the residence of Sobhan Molla and the residence of Shaheed Molla were completely destroyed by the sudden storm of Baisakhi. Meanwhile, at least 6 more houses were partially damaged.

Nilganj Union Parishad Chairman Md. Babul Mia said that the upazila administration has already been informed. A list of victims will be prepared and financial assistance will be provided.

Kalapara UNO Md. Jahangir Hossain said that on Monday night's Kalbaisakhi storm destroyed many houses in almost the union of the upazila. Trees are uprooted. Union chairmen have been asked to prepare a list. This list will be sent to the district. The victims are being dealt with by the upazila administration. - Gofran Biswas Palash
