Youth swept away in tidal surge dies in Patuakhali

Patuakhali, May 26 - A 24-year old man was found dead, an hour after he was swept away in a tidal surge caused by Cyclone Remal on Sunday afternoon in Patuakhali’s Kalapara upazila.

The deceased, Sharif, was on his way to a cyclone shelter with his sister and aunt.

Confirming the matter, Kalapara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rabiul Islam, said Sharif, a fisherman, was a resident of Anantapara area of the upazila.

His dead body was recovered in the afternoon and was buried in his village.- UNB
