Two die in separate lightning strikes in Dinajpur

Two people, including a schoolgirl, lost their lives in separate lightning strikes during a thunderstorm in Dinajpur on Saturday evening.


Officer-in-Charge Farid Hossain of Kotwali Police Station, confirmed the matter.

In one incident, Farida Akter, a class nine student at Godagari High School, was struck by lightning in Gobinathpur Kasaripara, of Uthrail Union. Farida was the daughter of Rahman Babu, a laborer at a local auto rice mill.

In another occurrence around the same time, Bikash Chandra Roy, 32, a resident of Dakshipara in Baroil Bonkali under Chehelgazi union, was also killed by lightning. Bikash was on his way home when he was struck and collapsed on the spot, reports UNB.
