Lightning Strike at Ugandan Refugee Camp Kills 14

A devastating lightning strike claimed the lives of 14 individuals and injured 34 others in a refugee camp in northern Uganda, police reported on Sunday.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday in the remote district of Lamwo, where the Palabek settlement camp primarily houses refugees from South Sudan. Victims were attending a prayer service inside a makeshift metallic structure when the lightning struck.
Police spokesman Kituuma Rusoke confirmed that the identities of the deceased have not yet been released. He noted that while such lightning strikes are common in East Africa during the wet season, no fires broke out as a result of the incident.
Local authorities are working to support the injured and provide assistance to the affected families in this difficult time.
