Five Children Die from Suspected Measles in 24 Hours

Five children died from suspected measles within the 24 hours ending at 8:00am on Thursday, while no deaths from confirmed measles cases were reported during the same period, according to health authorities.

The latest fatalities have raised the death toll from the ongoing measles outbreak and related complications among children to 666.

During the same 24-hour period, 1,009 new suspected measles cases were recorded, while 139 patients tested positive for confirmed measles infections.

Since 15 March, a total of 89,804 suspected measles cases and 10,733 confirmed infections have been reported across the country.

The outbreak has placed significant pressure on the healthcare system, with 74,184 patients hospitalised during this period. Of them, 70,503 have recovered and returned home after receiving treatment.
