Two more die of measles-like symptoms

Two more patients have died from measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).


During the same period, 970 new suspected measles cases were reported nationwide, while 114 confirmed patients were detected, a DGHS press release said today.

The release said a total of 84,627 suspected measles patients have so far been admitted to hospitals since March 15. Of them, 80,974 have recovered and been discharged after receiving treatment.

It said the cumulative number of suspected measles cases has reached 101,077, while the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases stood at 11,965 during the March 15-June 30 period.

Since March 15, a total of 625 children have died from suspected measles and measles-like symptoms across the country, reports BSS.

The DGHS said no new death from laboratory-confirmed measles was reported during the past 24 hours, keeping the total number of confirmed measles deaths unchanged at 93.
