870 dengue cases, 1 death reported overnight

Health officials today said they recorded 870 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least one person in the past 24 hours.


"During the period, (of the 870) 102 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 90 in Chattogram division, 181 in Dhaka division, 77 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 146 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 153 in Khulna division, 51 in Mymensingh division, 57 in Rajshahi division and 13 in Rangpur division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 71 deaths while the disease inflicted 24,848.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country, reports BSS.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
