Six More Die of Dengue, Death Toll Rises to 245

Six more people have died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease this year to 245.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in its regular dengue report on Wednesday.

According to the report, 1,948 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours. With the latest admissions, the total number of hospitalised dengue patients this year has reached 79,620.

Of the new patients, 212 were admitted in Barishal division, 343 in Chattogram, 320 in Dhaka division outside the city corporations, 189 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 210 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 248 in Khulna, 110 in Mymensingh, 211 in Rajshahi, 99 in Rangpur and 14 in Sylhet.

The DGHS said 73,890 dengue patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far this year.

Of them, 1,882 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
