Nipah virus infection has been reported in 28 districts of the country. The government has given directives to the relevant authorities to keep the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Dedicated Covid-19 Hospital ready to tackle situation.

DNCC COVID-19 Dedicated Hospital director Brig Gen AKM Shafiqur Rahman confirmed the matter on Sunday (February 4).

He said initially 10 ICU and 10 general beds were prepared. The number of beds will be increased if needed.

Usually, more than 70 per cent of infected people die and people who drink raw date juice and fruits partially eaten by birds, especially bats, can be infected with the virus.
