Bangladesh Reports First Dengue Death of the Year

Bangladesh has reported its first dengue death of 2025, as confirmed by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday morning (January 4). The death occurred within the Dhaka North City Corporation area.


In the past 24 hours, 56 new dengue cases were recorded, bringing the total number of cases to 221. Among the new patients, nine were admitted in hospitals under Dhaka North City Corporation and 12 in Dhaka South City Corporation.

Currently, 436 patients are being treated in hospitals across the country.

In 2024, dengue claimed 575 lives, with 101,214 reported cases and 100,040 recoveries, according to the DGHS.
