Two more dengue patients die in 24hrs

Dhaka, Jan 06 -Two more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Monday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to three this year.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the recent fatalities have been reported in the Dhaka and Chattogram divisions (outside the city corporations).

During the same period, 70 additional patients were hospitalised with viral fever, the DGHS added.

Of them, 8 dengue patients were admitted in hospital under Dhaka North City Corporation while 16 were hospitalised in Dhaka South City Corporation.

Currently, 400 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.

Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.

According to the DGHS, there were 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries in 2024.-UNB
