Dengue: 1 dead, 329 new cases reported in 24hrs

One more death and 329 fresh cases were reported from dengue in 24 hour till Sunday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh 32 and number of confirmed cases to 7,758 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).


In recent fatalities, one was reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), DGHS said.

Of the new cases, Barishal Division (out of city corporation) alone reported 136 new cases, Chattogram Division (outside city corporations) recorded 64 cases, Dhaka Division (outside city corporations) reported 38, while 43 cases were detected in Dhaka South City Corporation, 21 in Dhaka North City Corporation.

Khulna Division (out of city corporation) and Rajshahi Division (out of city corporation) reported 15 and 10 respectively while Mymensingh Division (out of city corporation) recorded two.

Currently, 909 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country, reports UNB. 

Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.

According to the DGHS, there were 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries in the same year.
