Heavy rain and onrush water from the hills have caused flood in Sylhet again, rendering thousands of people trapped in water.

Various areas of Sylhet sadar, Companiganj, Gowainghat, Jaintapur and Kanaighat upazilas have already been inundated due to hill slopes and rain.
Flood water has damaged many roads as a result road communications of Gowainghat upazila have been disconnected with the district headquarters.
Flood water has inundated many areas of Gowainghat upazila. Crops of several thousand hectors of land have been damaged. Many fish farms have been washed away. Farmers are facing acute food crisis and being affected by many waterborne diseases. There is also seen an acute cattle-feed crisis.
Gowainghat UNO Tamilur Rahman said flood water has entered many houses and we are ready to face the situation. Shelter centres have also opened there.
Flood water has inundated many areas of Sylhet sadar upazila.
In Companiganj, flood water has inundated many areas and entered houses, creating chaos among the residents.
The Companiganj UNO said the administration is ready to face the situation.
