A case has been filed over the incident of death of a family’s three members at Trishal in Mymensingh.
They were killed as a truck ran over them on Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway on Saturday (July 16).
Mostafizur Rahman Bablu, father of deceased Jahangir Alam, filed the case mentioning unknown persons on Sunday night.
Main Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Trishal Police Station, confirmed the matter.
We are trying to arrest the accused, he said.
The incident took place on Saturday noon. The deceased were known as Jahangir Alam, 42, of Raimoni area, his pregnant wife Ratna Akter and his their six-year-old daughter Sanjida.
The woman gave to a baby girl on the road just before death. The newborn also sustained one of its hands broken in the accident. The child is currently undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital and doing well.
“The couple along with their six-year-old daughter went to a hospital for ultrasonography. When they were crossing the road, a Mymensingh-bound truck ran over them on the roadside, leaving all three dead on the spot. However, the pregnant woman gave birth to her child before she died. The newborn is currently undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital, the OC said.
The OC further said, “The killer truck was seized. However, its driver managed flee the scene.”
