Gold bars worth Tk 2.6cr seized in Jhenidah

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Saturday detained a man along with 32 pieces of gold bars worth Tk 2.64cr .



Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Saturday detained a man along with 32 pieces of gold bars worth Tk 2.64cr from Moheshpur upazila in Jhenidah district.

The detained is Imam Hossain, 30, hailed from Chougachha upazila in Jashore district.

BGB-58 Battalion Commander Lt Col Shaheen Azad said acting on a tip-off, a team of BGB took position in Borobari village along Jadobpur border in the morning.

The team stopped a motor cycle rider in front of a school on suspicion and searched him, he said.

Thirty-two gold bars were seized from his possession during the search, said the official.
