Attack on JCD president, secretary in N’ganj

At least five people, including Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) general secretary Saif Mahmud Jewel, were injured aftyera attack at Araihazar Upazila.

At least five people, including Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) general secretary Saif Mahmud Jewel, were injured as a car carrying the organisation’s president and general secretary reportedly came under attack at Araihazar upazila in Narayanganj district on Wednesday.

JCD joint general secretary Abul Kalam Azad, who was also accompanying JCD president Kazi Rawanakul Islam Shraban and general secretary, said leaders and workers of Chhatra League and Juba League attacked them when their car arrived in front of Awami League’s office at about 4.30pm in Krishnapura area, leaving at least five people injured.

JCD general secretary Jewel was injured critically in the attack, he added.

Mahmud Ullah, Araihajar Municipality unit BNP president, said he rushed to the spot after hearing the news of attack.

Araihazar Police Station officer-in-charge Azizul Haque Hawladar said he was not aware of such kind of incident.

JCD president and general secretary went to Brahmanbaria along with central leaders of BNP to provide financial assistance to the family of slain JCD leader Nayan, who was died after being shot during a clash between BNP men and police in Bancharampur upazila.
