Missing bank officer’s body recovered

Members of the fire service have recovered the body of a bank official who went missing while taking a bath with his wife in the river Padma.



Members of the fire service have recovered the body of a bank official who went missing while taking a bath with his wife in the river Padma.

The deceased bank official is Salahuddin Kader Rupon, 38, a resident of Srimontopur village at Godagari municipality of Rajshahi. He was an officer at Uttara Bank’s Kishoreganj branch.

The body was recovered from the river’s ghat at Dakkhin para of Balugram area in Alatuli union of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila around 12 pm on Saturday (December 24).

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Thana Alamgir Jahan said a diving team of the fire service recovered the body of the bank officer. The body will be handed over to his family following a legal procedure.

Earlier on Friday (December 23), a group of 10-15 people including bank officer Salahuddin and his wife Manjuri Tanvir Nishi came to the bank of Padma at Balugram opposite to Sultanganj area of Godagari Municipality of Rajshahi for a picnic. After cooking in the afternoon, some people went down to bathe in Padma river. Meanwhile, three people including Salahuddin and Manjuri went under water. Then the others rescued the two including Manjuri. Manjuri died on the way to the hospital in a critical condition. Salahuddin remained missing.
