People suffers in Panchagarh as sun is not visible

At the end of the season, the intensity of winter increased. Frosty wind has joined the fog. The sun has been behind the clouds for the past five days. Panchagarh town suffering from sunless winter.

The temperature was recorded at 11.9 degrees Celsius at 9 am on Friday (January 12). Earlier, the temperature was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius at 6 am. Russell Shah, officer-in-charge of the first class meteorological observatory of the district told Dhaka Post about the temperature record in the morning.

He said that the sun has been covered by clouds and fog for the last five days. This is why it feels cold. The temperature has been recorded between 12 degrees for the last two days. Day temperature is low. Yesterday, the maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 15.5 degrees Celsius. The severity of winter increases due to wind blowing from north-east or north-west direction. In proportion to that, the intensity of winter is increasing in this region.

After visiting different areas of the district, the sun has been covered by fog for the last five days. Cloudy weather has been prevailing since morning. Low income professionals are in trouble due to severe winter. From stone-tea workers, day laborers to various working people. Their daily income has decreased. They are living hard with their families. Although many people do not leave their homes unless necessary, low-income professionals have gone out to work ignoring the cold in order to earn a living. Farmers are also in trouble. They are also unable to work in the farm because of the cold. Apart from this, working people and low income people are not getting the necessary warm clothes. The vagabonds walking on the streets have also suffered from the cold.

Meanwhile, night and day temperatures are close to each other, with daytime temperatures being recorded between 15 and 16 degrees. After evening, the city and village bazaars become quiet as the cold air blows again. Paper cuts, tires and paper are set on fire at various places in the markets to ward off winter.

Locals said that the sun has not been visible since morning for the last four days. Due to this, family and domestic animals are also in trouble. Can't work early in the morning. Hands and feet become paralyzed while working. Boys and girls are not able to study properly. After dusk, the whole night turned into ice. Touching the furniture, bedding, even the floor of the house feels cold as ice. Housewives find it difficult to work. Due to the decrease in income, many people have gone out to work, ignoring this bone-chilling winter, thinking about their families.

Some day laborers including Hossain Ali, Alauddin and Abul Kalam of Tentulia Sadar area of ​​the district told Dhaka Post that the sun has not been visible due to the clouds and fog for the past few days. It is very difficult to work. Hands and feet become paralyzed while working due to cold air.

A few stone workers including Jewel, Ainul and Sayed said, on the one hand, it is very cold. The river water in it is like ice. There is no way to sit in the winter. If you sit at home in the cold, you will not get rice in your stomach. The hunger of the stomach does not understand the cold. So thinking about the family, I am going down to pick stones in the river. This stone is our bread and taste. If you don't work, many people have to live in hardship with their families.

Van drivers Helal,  Hasim and Dulal told that the income has decreased this winter. No one wants to ride in a van easily because of bone chilling winter. Bella has not been seen for almost a week. It has reduced income.

Meanwhile, due to winter, people from children to the elderly are suffering from winter-related diseases including pneumonia, asthma, asthma, shortness of breath and diarrhea. Cold patients are being treated outdoors in district and upazila hospitals. Besides treatment, doctors are giving various suggestions to cure cold-related diseases.
