Taka 37.91 crore Kalapara municipality budget announced

Mayor of Kalapara Municipality Bipul Chandra Howladar announced the municipal budget at the conference room of municipality on Thursday 27 June 2024.

Patuakhali: Kalapara Municipality of Patuakhali announced a budget of 37 crore 91 lakh 73 thousand 256 taka for the fiscal year 2024-2025 without any new tax increase. Mayor of Kalapara Municipality Bipul Chandra Howladar announced this budget in a press conference at the conference room of Kalapara Municipality on Thursday (June 27) at 11 am. Municipal Executive Engineer Md. Moshiur Rahman, Executive Officer Kabya Lal Chakraborty, Press Club President Md. Humayun Kabir, Senior Representative of Urban Development Coordination Committee Principal Syed Nasir Uddin etc. were present at taht time.

Earlier, the draft budget was presented in the quarterly meeting of the Urban Development Coordination Committee on Monday, June 24. And the municipal council unanimously approved the proposed budget at the municipal council meeting on Tuesday, June 25.

According to the sources, the budget of 37 crore 91 lakh 73 thousand 256 taka for the fiscal year 2024-2025 of Kalapara municipality of Patuakhali was announced without any new tax increase in the proposed budget. Among them, the income in own sector is 5 crore 83 lakh 54 thousand taka. Government allocation for developmental work is expected to be Rs.3 crore 10 lakhs. 5 crore is expected in urban development Kuwait project. 20 crore is expected in 11 municipal infrastructure development projects. The total cost has been estimated at 34 crore 89 lakh 55 thousand taka.

The source also said that the proposed budget has kept a possible closing balance of Tk 2 crore 76 lakh 30 thousand 236 in the revenue sector. The revised budget for the current year (2023-24) has been approved at 18 crore 72 lakh 84 thousand 256 taka. Under the Covid-19 project, development work worth Tk 1 crore 32 lakh in 1 package is ongoing.

Apart from this, in the financial year 2023-24, development works of Tk 1 crore 56 lakh have been implemented with ADP and own funding. 0.50 acre of the land for the dumping station in phase 3 has been purchased with the municipality's own funding, municipal accountant Kartik Chandra Howladar confirmed this information. - Gofran Biswas Palash
