Lightning kills 3 in Narail



Narail, July 01 -Three people were killed and another was injured in lightning in Narail Sadar upazila on Sunday midnight.

The deceased were Ratan Roy of Jashore’s Monirampur upazila, Milton Roy of Khulna’s Nijgram and Nanda Dali of Satkhira’s Tala upazila.

The injured, Chitto Malo, is now undergoing treatment at Narail Hospital.

Prodip Kumar Biswas, member of Kalora union parisahd of  Sadar upazila, quoting locals said that the victims left their houses 25 days ago for grazing pigs and arrived in the Sadar upazila three days back after visiting different areas.

The lightning struck them on Sunday midnight amid rainfall, leaving three people dead on the spot, he added.

Locals spotted the bodies lying on the ground and another suffering from pain in the morning, the UP member said.

Sadar police station’s Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Sajedur Rahman confirmed the the incident saying that the bodies were sent to the Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.

The bodies will be handed over to the families after completing legal procedures, he added.-UNB
