At least 21 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers at Chhatrahazari village of Noagram Union of Narail's Lohagara upazila over a trivial matter on Thursday.

According to locals, there had been a long-standing dispute between the current union member, Sayed Mina, and former member Akhter Kazi.

Ashiqur Rahman, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Lohagara Police Station, said, "Police have been deployed in the area, and the situation is now under control. If a complaint is filed regarding this incident, a case will be registered, and the accused will be arrested."

On Thursday, around 7:30 am, Akhter's brother Khoka Kazi grazed his cows in the northern field of the village. A conflict arose when one of the cows entered Sayed Mina's field. Sayed Mina's son, Monirul, scolded the workers in the field, which escalated tensions between the two sides, reports UNB.

Eventually, a clash broke out, with both groups using local weapons. As a result, 12 people from Akhter's side and 9 from Sayed Mina's side were injured.

Among the injured, Kazi Sagar Hossain, 48, of Akhter Kazi Group, was in critical condition and had been sent to Dhaka for advanced treatment. The rest were undergoing treatment at Narail Sadar Hospital.

Others injured are Akhter Kazi, 48; Kazi Moni Mia, 45; Kazi Samad, 38; Kazi Ikhlas, 50; Kazi Sabu, 38; Kazi Saikat, 55; Kazi Billal, 55; Kazi Rejoan, 20; Kazi Arif, 48; Beauty Begum, 55; and Kazi Shakib, 22.
