Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser to Bangladesh, has received a prestigious invitation from Pope Francis to attend the World Meeting on Human Fraternity in Vatican City, scheduled for September 12-13, 2025.

The invitation was personally delivered by Father Francesco Occhetta, General Secretary of the Vatican's Fondazione Fratelli Tutti, during a meeting with Prof. Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna in Bangladesh.

Father Occhetta expressed deep admiration for the Nobel Laureate’s global impact, saying, “You are a top leader; a sensational figure who inspires change around the world.”

The World Meeting on Human Fraternity promises to be a landmark event, bringing together world leaders, dignitaries, and intellectuals to forge a path toward unity, peace, and social justice. A key highlight of the gathering will be the drafting of the Tables of Humanity, a pivotal document outlining universal principles for peaceful coexistence. The event aims to lay the foundation for a New Human Charter, inspired by Pope Francis’s vision of a more inclusive and compassionate world.

The grand event at St. Peter's Square is expected to draw thousands, featuring a global concert, in-depth discussions, and powerful multimedia presentations that will underscore the principles of human fraternity.

Father Occhetta also shared that prominent world leaders will be attending, further emphasizing the significance of the event.

During their conversation, Prof. Yunus inquired about the well-being of Pope Francis and conveyed his warm regards, describing him as "a wonderful human being."

In response, Father Occhetta conveyed the Vatican's deep respect for Bangladesh, stating, “We are here not only to invite you but also to show our support, care, and love for Bangladesh.”

Prof. Yunus expressed his gratitude for the invitation, saying, “I am looking forward to this meaningful event and the opportunity to contribute to this important dialogue.”

The Vatican’s invitation highlights the recognition of Prof. Yunus's Three Zero Principles—zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions—celebrating his visionary leadership in striving for a more just and sustainable world.
