Two crude bombs exploded near the venue of a BNP rally at Madbarbazar in Naria municipality area of the district.

A BNP faction led by Mohiuddin Ahmed Jintu, member of BNP National Executive Committee, organised a rally at Madbarbazar in Naria municipality area on Sunday.

A crude bomb went off near the rally venue around 11:30 am and another crude bomb exploded at the same spot around 4 am, creating panic among people as well as the leaders and activists of the party.

On information, police recovered some evidence of explosion but no casualties or injuries have been reported yet.

Additional police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order in the area.

Ali Haidar Khan, former president of Naria Upazila unit BNP, said this incident was deliberately orchestrated to disrupt our peaceful programme. “We demand the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible.”

Ashiq Mahmud, additional superintendent (Naria circle), said  police have been deployed at the scene, reports UNB.

Further details will be shared once the investigation is completed, he said.
