One killed in Narsingdi clash

A man shot dead and another suffered bullet wounds in attack by rivals over establishing supremacy at Samibad village in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi district on Tuesday night.


The deceased was identified as Dulal Mia, 45, son of Abdul Malek of Samibad area in the upazila.

Sujon Chandra Sarkar, additional superintendent of Narsingdi Police Station, said Khoka Alam and Zakir Mia had been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area.

As a sequel to the enmity, the supporters of Zakir Mia equipped with arms swooped on the house of Khoka Alam and fired bullets, leaving Dulal and Nahim injured.

A chase and counter-chase took place between the supporters of both groups.

Later, they were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared Dulal dead.

Injured Nahim Mia, a class VIII student and son of Belal Sarkar, was undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The attackers also vandalised 8-10 houses.

Additional police have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order situation, reports UNB.
