
The deceased was identified as Yasin Miah, 25, son of Harun Miah of the area. He was also a cousin of July martyr Sohel Miah, whose family was reportedly attacked during the incident.
The clash broke out in Chnatia village under Goatala union when Sohel Miah’s brother Rubel Miah and his family members went fishing on the disputed land in Chnatia Beel, police and local sources said.
Members of the opposing group allegedly attacked them with sharp weapons, leaving at least ten people injured.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to the Dhobaura Upazila Health Complex, where doctors referred them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Yasin succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, police said.
Mymensingh Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Md Abdullah Al Mamun said the clash occurred over a long-standing land dispute, reports UNB.
“The situation is now under control. Three people have been detained in connection with the incident, and legal action is underway,” he added.
