3 held with 10,200 yaba tablets in Sylhet cafe raid

Police in Sylhet have arrested three drug dealers and seized 10,200 yaba tablets during a raid at a local cafe in Zakiganj. The suspects were later sent to jail through court.


According to police, acting on a tip-off, officers raided Relax Cafe in Kaliganj Bazar area on Thursday around 9:30 pm. During the operation, the three individuals were apprehended and the large cache of yaba tablets was recovered.

The arrested are Shabir Ahmed (24), son of Haruch Mia, and Shakil Ahmed (20), both from Uttar Kul Dighali village, Barthakuri Union, and Rashedul Islam (30), son of Moin Uddin, from Niagul village, Koskonkupur Union.

Zakiganj Police Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Abdur Razzak said the operation targeted a major drug consignment. A case under the Narcotics Control Act has been filed against the three suspects, reports UNB. 

He added that the arrested individuals were produced in court on Friday and sent to jail, and police will continue operations to curb drug trafficking in the area.
