Remittance Inflow Hits $1.88b in First 19 Days of Sept

Bangladesh received $1.877 billion in remittances during the first 19 days of September, maintaining the positive trend in expatriate earnings, according to Bangladesh Bank data released on Sunday.

The latest central bank figures show that remittances sent between September 1 and 19 amounted to $1.877 billion, equivalent to around Tk23,040 crore.

During the same period last year, remittance inflow stood at $1.869 billion, meaning the inflow increased by around 0.4% year-on-year.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh received a total of $7.702 billion in remittances from July 1 to September 19 of the 2026-27 fiscal year, compared with $6.769 billion during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

This represents an increase of around 13.8% year-on-year.

Officials at Bangladesh Bank attributed the sustained growth to easier remittance transfers through formal banking channels and tighter measures to curb hundi, or informal money transfers.
