Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur has said that the overall economic condition of the country remains stable and if political stability prevails, the economy would perform even better in the coming days.

Dr Mansur made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a regional seminar on MFI-Bank Linkage, organized by the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA), at a local resort at Basail here in Tangail today. The seminar aimed to make bank financing more accessible to the rural poor.

Speaking about the progress in bringing back the laundered money, the central bank Governor said that lawyers have been sent to England from various banks. “Different groups of companies are trying to establish their claims. If we succeed, positive results will come soon,” he added.

The event was presided over by Dr. Mohammad Helal Uddin, Executive Vice Chairman of MRA. Other speakers included Shawkat Ali Khan, Managing Director of Sonali Bank, and Syed Abdul Momen, Additional Managing Director of BRAC Bank, among others.

Chairpersons of various NGOs from across the country were also present at the event, reports BSS.
