Presidential Election Set for August 20

The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday announced that Bangladesh's presidential election will be held on August 20.

Senior EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed announced the election schedule at the Election Commission Secretariat.

According to the schedule, polling will take place from 2:00pm to 5:00pm in the Parliament Chamber at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

Nomination papers may be submitted to the office of the Chief Election Commissioner, who will also serve as the Returning Officer, from 10:00am to 4:00pm on August 13.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will begin at 10:00am on August 16, while candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations until 4:00pm on August 18.

The senior EC secretary said the voter list for the presidential election has already been finalised and that the commission has started the necessary administrative preparations to ensure the election is held smoothly.
