Election Commission (EC) Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said today that there is currently no reason for panic or concern regarding the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.
“So far, there is no cause for worry,” he told journalists at Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka.
On election preparations, he noted that not all tasks need to follow the EC’s initial schedule precisely. “Some activities have been completed, while others are still in progress and may take additional time. Adjustments are made according to the situation,” he explained.
He confirmed that the list of polling centres has been finalised, and the registration of political parties along with the final list of polling centres is expected to be completed within the week.
Regarding new party registrations, he said the Commission is reviewing information received from the field and hopes to complete the process within the same timeframe.
Responding to the BNP’s objection over the amendment to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), Akhtar Ahmed said, “The Commission will make a decision on this matter.”
