The United Nations (UN) today briefed registered political parties on its technical assistance to the Bangladesh Election Commission (BEC), highlighting efforts to strengthen operational capacity, improve voter education, and promote greater inclusion and information integrity ahead of the national polls.

During the session, the UN team presented political party representatives with an overview of key components of its electoral support, followed by a question-and-answer segment.

Under the BALLOT Project, the UN is assisting the election commission through staff training, voter and civic education initiatives, the provision of essential election materials, and measures to enhance inclusivity in the electoral process.

The UN emphasised that its assistance strictly adheres to core principles, including respect for national sovereignty and ownership, the promotion of human rights, and a firm commitment to impartiality, neutrality, and independence.
