The Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited has achieved a new milestone, generating more than 760 million units of electricity from the Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant in April.

The Rampal-based plant contributed over 9 percent of the country’s total electricity generation during the month, highlighting its increasing importance to the national grid.

This marks the fifth time the facility has crossed 700 million units in a single month, reflecting steady high performance.

Officials said the plant operated at around 97 percent plant load factor in early April, when power demand surged amid a heatwave. The strong output during this period helped stabilise the grid.

Managing Director Ramanath Pujari said the plant’s ability to run near full capacity during peak demand demonstrates its solid design and the dedication of its workforce.
