Dhaka, Jan 14 - The government has exempted 7.5 percent additional value added tax (VAT) at the production stage of “LP Gas”.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) issued a special order in this regard on Monday.

It said that at present LP Gas is used as cooking fuel in homes, fuel for vehicles at autogas stations and as fuel in various industrial establishments; and at present, due to the insufficiency of natural gas supplied by gas distribution companies, the demand for LP Gas is constantly increasing in various types of industrial factories including garments.

It mentioned that with a view to making the production and use of LP Gas easily available, the NBR has exempted LP Gas from 7.5 percent additional value added tax at the production stage.

This order shall be deemed to have come into effect from January 9, 2025.-UNB
