Dhaka, January 19: Today, an operation was conducted at five different spots in Fatulla, Narayanganj, to disconnect illegal connections of Titas Gas. The operation team disconnected 40 connections in the Modern Housing area of Fatulla, out of which 06 connections were killed due to illegal gas use. During this time, the connection of about 400 residential double stoves was disconnected. About 300 feet of 3/4 inch diameter distribution pipe was removed from the said housing and seized.

In addition, for illegally using 28 double stoves by drawing a line in place of the 08 double stoves authorized by a customer next to Modern Housing, the connection was immediately disconnected and a fine of 90 thousand taka was paid to the customer through a mobile court as per the Bangladesh Gas Act, 2010.

The gas connection of the customer M/s New Top Textile BD Limited, which was previously disconnected due to the use of additional facilities than the approved one, was cut off from the control valve and killed.

Initial investigation did not find evidence of gas connection at a mosquito coil manufacturing company and Alcoba washing factory in Pilkuni, Nandalalpur, Fatulla, Narayanganj areas. However, as there was a possibility of gas connection according to the activities of the Alcoba washing factory, it was decided to keep the company under monitoring. – PID Handout
