Dhaka, February 3 - Titas Gas authorities have conducted a drive to remove illegal gas connections in various areas of Dhaka city under the jurisdiction of Titas Gas, including Demra, Keraniganj, Kamrangirchar, Munshiganj, Narayanganj, Savar, Tongi, Gazipur, Mymensingh, Meghnaghat and Narsingdi. As part of the eviction drive, a drive was conducted to disconnect illegal gas connections in Rupsi area of ​​Rupganj today. During the operation, illegal gas lines were disconnected at 4 spots and the mobile court fined the owner of ‘Kebab Ghar Restaurant’ Tk 20,000 and the owner of ‘New Al-Madina Bread and Biscuit Factory Limited’ Tk 130,000 for illegally using gas and disconnected about two kilometers of distribution lines and 800 illegal residential stoves in 500 houses.

At this time, the entire section of 150 feet of 2-inch diameter and 3/4-inch diameter pipes was removed and seized by excavators and each illegal distribution line was killed and capped from the source point.

It is to be noted that during the operation conducted from September 2024 to February 3, 2025, a total of 22,582 illegal gas connections and 50,305 burners including 172 industrial, 98 commercial and 22,312 residential were disconnected. 110 kilometers of pipeline were removed in these operations. – PID Handout
