Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company today disconnected a total of 2,370 illegal gas connections during mobile court drives in three districts.

A team led by an executive magistrate conducted a special operation at Mirertek, Haturapara and Nayapur in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj district on Monday. The team disconnected nearly 900 illegal residential burners and one lime kiln. They also destroyed 100 feet of plastic pipe with a two-inch diameter and 400 feet of pipe with a one-inch diameter.

Another drive was carried out at the Karail slum in the capital, where 1,050 illegal double burners were disconnected. This will save an estimated 22,050 cubic feet of gas daily. During the operation, 560 feet of illegal pipeline was also removed.

In a separate drive in the Surabari and Dewan Market areas of Kashimpur in Gazipur, illegal gas connections to 420 double burners in 160 houses were removed, reports BSS.
