Bangladesh is set to receive 5,000 metric tonnes of diesel from India through the Bangladesh-India Friendship Pipeline amid ongoing global fuel disruptions.

Sources at the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation said the shipment will arrive at the Parbatipur depot in Dinajpur, originating from the Numaligarh refinery in Assam, India. The pumping process for the diesel has already begun.

Earlier, Bangladesh requested to import an additional 50,000 tonnes of diesel over the next four months through the same pipeline. Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury submitted the proposal to Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma on Sunday.

The Bangladesh-India Friendship Pipeline stretches 131 km from the Siliguri Marketing Terminal in India to the Parbatipur Depot in Dinajpur, allowing diesel to be transported directly and efficiently through the pipeline.
