Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser, has issued a stern warning that strict action will be taken against those involved in encroaching on rivers and forests.

She made the statement during her virtual address as the chief guest at the inauguration of the "Eco Leaders Youth Empowering Initiative on Environment, Climate, and Renewable Energy for Bangladesh" at the Bangladesh Military Museum. The event was facilitated from the Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel, according to a press release from the Ministry.

Rizwana, who also serves as the water resources adviser, reiterated that the government is committed to keeping the environment free from pollution. She emphasized that development activities are being carried out with public interests in mind, focusing on sustainable growth and avoiding destructive practices.

Highlighting the environmental challenges facing Bangladesh, including floods, droughts, and salinity due to climate change, Rizwana called on the youth and all sectors of society to unite and address these issues collectively.

Earlier in the day, Rizwana spoke at a meeting organized to observe International Human Rights Day at the NGO Affairs Bureau auditorium in Agargaon. As the chief guest, she noted the government's efforts to uphold human rights and the ongoing reforms within commissions. She also assured that women would be a key focus in the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) to combat climate change effectively.
