Dhaka, Feb 28 -Publishers sold books worth Tk 47 crore in the Amar Ekushey Book Fair till February 27 in this year.

Muzahidul Islam, member secretary of Ekushey Book Fair Organising Committee gave this information at the closing ceremony of the book fair at Bangla Academy on Tuesday.

He said as per the provisional data books of Tk47 crore were sold till Monday (February 27) of which books worth Tk1.24 crore were sold on February 27.

According to the information received from the entire book fair, books worth 47 crores have been sold.

However, it cannot be called a real image. Because many pavilions did not provide their sales information. Again, the book sales information of many pavilions was not acceptable, he said.

The member secretary of the fair also said that books were sold at a 25 percent discount in this year's book fair.

He also said that according to the information cantering of the book fair - 3750 new books have been published.

Apart from this, new books have been published, the information of which has not come to the book fair organising committee. And last time 3416 new books were published in the fair.

According to Archway calculations, 63.53 lakh visitors have come to this year's book fair till February 26, Muzahid said. - UNB
