The park, which has been established over 194 acres of recaptured land, is home to over 127 domestic and foreign flower species.

A month-long flower festival will begin for the second time at DC Park in Faujdarhat under Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Thursday (January 25).

The park, which has been established over 194 acres of recaptured land, is home to over 127 domestic and foreign flower species.

Sources said that in addition to the flower demonstrate, there will be various arrangements, including an art exhibition with works from 100 painters, a boat exhibition, a book fair, a kite festival, a pitha festival, a puppet dance, cultural programmes.

Mentionable, the Chattogram District Administration had recovered 194 acres of khash land along the Marine Drive Road in Faujdarhat, which had been occupied by local drug addicts and criminals for more than a decade.

Later, the area has been transformed into an attractive park by planting thousands of flower plants, offering additional facilities for visitors.

The administration organised the biggest flower festival in the country for the first time at the park in February, 2023.

There are two huge water bodies adjacent to the park and those were separated by a road through them. A floating bridge has also been built on water alongside the bank.

The visitors are also able to ride boats in the water bodies. The administration also included some facilities for physically challenged people who have now charges only Tk 30 for an entry fee.

Chattogram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abul Bashar Mohammed Fakhruzzaman said that this year various arrangements are included for the month-long flower festival to make the event more attractive compared to the previous occasion.
