Dhaka, Oct 06 -There is no specific threat centering Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community in Bangladesh, says Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

"Yet, we have taken various steps to ensure smooth and peaceful Puja celebrations,” he said replying to a query after visiting Ramna Kali Mandir in the capital.

The home adviser said, the Hindu community will be able to celebrate their festival peacefully as law enforcement agencies have taken necessary security measures.

The Home Ministry issued 8-point directives for local administrations and law enforcement agencies to ensure law and order during the Durga Puja celebrations nationwide.

“We have set up arrangements through the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) to ensure that any occurrences are reported immediately,” he added.

The adviser emphasized the importance of cooperation from everyone to facilitate smooth worship activities.

Praising the Puja Udjapan Committee, he said that the community members have made excellent arrangements and volunteered to fulfill their duties around the clock.-UNB
