The colourful ‘Barshabaran Ananda Shobhajatra’ procession set off today from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dhaka University, celebrating Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year 1432.

This year's theme, “Nabobarsher oikatan, fyasibaader obosan” (Harmony of the New Year, farewell to fascism), captured the spirit of unity and festivity.

Teachers, students, and people from all walks of life joined the lively parade, which passed through key city landmarks including Shahbagh intersection, TSC, Shaheed Minar, Physical Education Centre, Doyel Chattar, and the road in front of Bangla Academy.

Participants included members from 28 ethnic minority communities, along with representatives from various educational institutions, social and cultural organisations, and international guests.

The vibrant procession featured seven large, seven medium, and seven small motifs, adding colour and artistry to the New Year celebrations.
